The Elektr0nauts Official first cover!

(Or, my future music plans, maybe?)

While I haven’t been doing much music production recently (okay, the last couple years), it has been on my mind. I was getting into doing Full Instrumental Covers in the lockdown days, and made a few decent ones. But, Ut00b makes it hard on small producers like me, and I kept getting hit with copywrite claims (from people, more accurately BOTS, that had no more right to the song than I do), take downs, even a few full on deleted and your account has been warned Strikes! So, I gave up on that, and my channel turned into me badly flying virtual warbirds and military jets.

I digress. Back to music. Anyway, I still enjoy getting a hold of a score and converting it over to MIDI and loading it up in my DAW and setting up my various VSTs (Virtual Studio Technology) to play it. I had run into a consistent problem on several songs: the notes wouldn’t stop playing! It would hit a Single Note, and just HOLD IT until the end of time, or the next note played. Very frustrating. I’ve been researching MIDI ‘notes’ and articulations ever since, but could never find a simple ‘shut the friggin’ note off!!’ command. I started thinking since I couldn’t find anything about it, it must be something I was doing wrong somewhere. Then, I realized that it was only my Virtual Guitar doing it. Drums, bass, and synthesizers were fine. So I dug through the settings, and found what was causing it: The SUSTAIN PEDAL was on by default on all guitar parts! geez… Turned that off and suddenly a lot of my midi music sounds much better!

So…here we are now a Tad over TWO YEARS since I started to work on this particular cover. This song was one I remember playing on a ’45’ record when I was a kid in the late 70s/early 80s. I credit it with setting my preference for electronic/industrial sounds in my music. When I was fiddling with this and learning the guitar and bass parts, I stopped and thought to myself “Why don’t you do a modern All Digital version of this song, the Original All Digital Song!?” So, that’s what I present to you here today. The Elektr0naughts first song! (Technically, the Drummer has been in nearly all of my covers, and the Guitarist has had a few guest spots as well.)

Song Digitally Crafted by Kamicosmos, performed by the Elektr0naughts.

The Elektr0naughts are:

Hirohito Shirow VII – Lead Guitar

Erich Zeitsman Drummond II – Drums

Edward Zachariah Benson – Bass

Rea Pepper – Keys, Synths, and other n0iz3s

(they are actually Heavier 7 Strings, EZ Drummer 2, EZ Bass, and ReaSynth running an analog synth vst)
